Ruth Tinsley, age 94, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 5th, 2010 at Bowling Green Manor Care. She was born December 2nd, 1915 to John and Violet (Hughes) Zimmerman. Ruth and her late husband John were longtime residents of Bowling Green, Ohio. Together they bred and raised chinchillas entering many national competitions for more than 30 years. Ruth received several awards and recognitions for her efforts and excellence in the breeding of chinchillas. She also spent many years working in the payroll and accounting offices for Bostwick Braun, DayBrook and a boat company in Cygnet, Ohio. At one point, she also did the figures at a local hardware store. Ruth was very artistic and took Adult Art lessons at the Toledo Museum of Art where she enjoyed watercolors and sculpture.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John Tinsley; sister, Mildred Zimmerman and brothers, James and Bud Zimmerman, who was a former Mayor of Norwalk, CA. She is survived by her loving daughter, Vy Tinsley, of Bowling Green, OH.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Graveside Services will begin Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green, Ohio.
