Ruth M. "Rootbeer" McIlroy, age 90, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Heartland of Perrysburg. She was born on June 9, 1928 to Soloman and Edna (Schlagheck) Cousino in Toledo. Ruth was an animal lover, enjoyed bowling and was an avid Bingo player. She was a huge sports fanatic, especially of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and the Toledo Mud Hens. Ruth loved spending time and taking care of her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford "Mac" McIlroy; and grandson, Kip McIlroy. Ruth is survived by her loving sons, Carl "Butch" (MaryAnn), Mike (Son Chu), Gary, Charles, Dennis (Mary Anne) McIlroy; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Knestrick; brothers, Edward and Robert Cousino; two kitties, Mimi and Max; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
