Ruth D. Gryca

Ruth D. Gryca, age 93, of Toledo, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Sunset House. She was born on October 1, 1920 to Walter and Eliza (Baysher) Mexicott in Toledo. Ruth worked as a buyer for Tiedke's Department Store and then in sales at JCPenney for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Post #587 Conn-Weissenberger Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth was an avid dog lover. She loved spending time with her friends, especially taking casino trips. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kay Gryca; sister, Florence Anderson and brother, Richard Mexicott. Ruth is survived by her nieces, Geraldine Anderson and Marie (Tom) Michalak; special friend, Rollie Rittner; and a host of other dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with the Conn-Weissenberger Unit #587 Auxiliary conducting their services at 1:00 p.m. and Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Toledo Humane Society or the American Legion Post #587 Conn-Weissenberger, Ladies Auxiliary.
