Russell McGovern, age 66, of Swanton, passed away Monday, March 27, 2006 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 22, 1939 to Russell and Vera McGovern in Toledo. Russell was a machine operator for General Motors until he retired in 1982. After retiring he volunteered as a fireman and EMT for 20 years. Russell was a very loving, caring man who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Russell was preceded in death by his brother, William McGovern. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda McGovern; daughters: Tamara (Christopher) Bomar, Tracy Shaffer and Wendy (Gilbert) Rainey; grandchildren: Erin, Amanda, Dustin, Devon, Hayley, Kyle, C.J., Kevin, Tyler, Kayla and Nick; great grandson: Jaydon; sisters: Patricia (George) Berry and Frieda McGovern; and sister-in-law: Bobbie Saylor.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, March 30, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) from 4 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Life Pointe Church, 8239 St. Rt. 64, Waterville, OH. Officiating will be Pastor Richard Henry and Pastor Clarence Pickle. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.
