Russell “Ray” Carmony, age 89, of Toledo passed away on August 27, 2024. He was born in Fishpond, Kentucky to David and Ada (Hall) Carmony on April 25, 1935. He graduated from Libbey High School and then worked as a glassworker at LOF until he retired. Ray was a football and baseball coach at Arlington Elementary School for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family playing cards. Ray was a devote Dallas Cowboy Fan, and a lifetime member of the Toledo Zoo. He even has a plaque in the aquarium. Ray was the best man that you could ever meet and he had a great sense of humor. Ray was a great father, husband, grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Davidson) Carmony, and all of his siblings. Left to cherish his memories are his children, Timothy Carmony, Julie (Lynn) Johnson, and Deborah Carmony; grandchildren, Stacey (John) Preciado, Angela Boyer, Gregory (Ashley) Point, Andrea (Travis) Gentry, Devin Frost, Jamie Johnson, Jessica (Joe) Carter, Justine (Mike) Benton, and Jacob (Chris) Keween; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd, Toledo. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
