Rudolph W. "Rudy" Fritch, age 81, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, May 15th, 2011 at Ebeid Residence Hospice, Sylvania. He was born March 30th, 1930 to Joseph and Hazel (Broadbeck) Fritch in Toledo. Rudy was a very patriotic man serving his country proudly in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend and cherished the times spent with family and friends. Rudy will be remembered for his kindness and charitable ways. After returning from the service, he was employed with Libby Owens Ford for more than 30 years. He was also an avid gardener, a big fan of the Detroit Tigers and a member of VFW #2898.
In addition to his parents and siblings, Rudy was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Bertha (Seligman) Fritch. He is survived by his children, Randy (Joan) Fritch and Harriet (Kerry) Hickman; grandchildren, Chad, Zachary, James and Brittany Fritch, Jason Hickman and Amanda Mitchell. Rudy is also survived by several great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and very special friend, Mary Wohn.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow.
