Roy W. Sorrell Sr., age 72 of Toledo passed away Monday, February 21, 2011. He was born July 21, 1938 to Roy H. and Carrie (Bell) Sorrell in Rush County, Indiana. Roy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Air Force for 4 years and he then graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor Degree in Business. After working for Dana Corporation he started Professional Inc. which was a home health care business in Toledo for 17 years. In 1972 he partnered with Dick Oakley and together they operated a successful home health care business. Roy was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Association, SPEBSQSA, St. Clement Knights of Columbus and St. Clement Catholic Church. His love for fishing took him to many different places where he was able to fish with his family and friends. Roy will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years, Barbara (Malik) Sorrell; children, Suzanne (Dr. David) Miller of Thomasville, Georgia, Roy W. (Joni) Sorrell Jr. of Millbury, Ohio and Dr. Jeanette (Brian) Roberts of Clyde Township, Michigan; beloved grandchildren, David Jr., Jessica, Laney, Ethan and Riley and one expected grandson in June; siblings, Norma, Jim and Lila.
The family will receive guests Friday from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). The Rosary will be recited in the funeral home Friday at 7:00 p.m. Final Prayers will begin in the funeral home Saturday at 9:15 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
