Roy Potter age 85 formerly of Richardson Texas, passed away of natural causes on March 24, 2013. He had been in the care of the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky Ohio for the last few years.
Born in Clifton Texas, Roy graduated from Clifton High School and immediately enlisted into the US Navy where he worked as a radio operator. After his initial Navy tour he enlisted in the US Air Force where he worked as a radar technician and rose to the rank of Chief Master Sargent.
After the war he was stationed in England where he met Kitty Carlton who became his wife of 53 years. He spent a total of 22 years in the US Navy and Air Force. He was a graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics in 1948.
After his military service Roy spent 24 years working at Texas Instruments as an Electronics Technician working on radar systems design and engineering for the US Defense Industries retiring in 1992.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife Kitty, two brothers, Herbert and Ray, and his two sisters Mrs. Ottis Toten (Ruby) and Mrs. Orville Johnson (Nancy).
Roy leaves behind three daughters, Marea Tully, Francine (Charlie) Leonard and Rosalyn (Ben) Kern, Grandchildren, Gina, Roy, Eric, Tonya, Andrea, Heather and John. He also leaves behind 11 great and 2 great great grandchildren.
A gathering will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home 4150 West Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio at 9 AM on April 15th with services at 10:30 AM. Military Honors and internment at Rose Lawn Cemetery 13200 South Dixie Highway, Lasalle, MI immediately following.
