Rose Macke, 92, passed away on January 4, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Rose was born October 26, 1930, in Leopold, Missouri, the daughter of Robert William and Clara Lucy (DeBrock) Jansen. Rose Jansen and Bernard Macke were married on April 15, 1950, in a double wedding ceremony with Rose's sister, Agnes Jansen and Leo Broshuis at St. John's Catholic Church, Leopold, MO.

After their wedding, Rose lived in Norfolk, Virginia, while Ben served in the US Marines Corps. Later they followed Ben's brother, Vince, and moved to Toledo, Ohio, after his military discharge. Rose was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church; working with their women's group as a secretary for many years, with their religious youth classes, and in their school library. She also started a Camp Fire Girls group with another parent. After its church closing, she transferred to St. Charles Catholic Church where she continued to work with youth classes. She was a member of the 14th Ward Old Timers Baseball Association. In 1972, she started working full time at Toledo Hospital, working in dietary and later transferring to their Central Supply Services, where she made many life-long friends. She enjoyed camping with friends. In 1987, Rose proudly completed her GED high school requirements. She retired from the hospital and later returned part time, working in housekeeping until she was 80 years old. Rose loved getting together with her family and friends while sharing a meal. Her children will miss her smile and laughter. Her children and grandchildren were blessed to have such a loving extended family in Southeastern Missouri.

Survivors include five sons; Paul (Myrna), David, Alan, Wade (Suzanne), Arnold; two daughters: Jenny (Glenn) and Karen (Tom); 15 grandchildren: Dawn (Jason), Scott (Brittany), Sylvia, Sean (Miira), Eric, Andrew, Mickey (Valerie), Matthew, Sara (Robert), Daniel (Amber), Kimberly (Daniel), Edward, (Stacey), Mary (Brett), Crystal, and AJ; 23 great-grandchildren: Camrin, Colton, Carson, Callie, Arlo, Lili, Logan, Elise, Charlotte, Gavin, Benjamin, Molly, Robert, Kayla, Marc (Steph), Jade, Noah, Logan, Xavier, Daniella, Hannah, Emma, Garrett, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Vivian. Rose is also survived by two siblings: Sister Mary Jane Jansen and Arnold (Mary) Jansen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, one son, Earl Joseph, and one grandson, Tommy, her parents, and six sisters: Adeline, (Irvin VandeVen), Dorothy, (Louis Hinkebein), Clara, (Lawrence Macke), Agnes,(Leo Broshuis),Loretta (Herbert Blattel), and Nettie (Marvin Surface). and two brothers, Robert William Jr. and Robert Louis (Karen Stause).

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, January 8th at Newcomer Funeral Homes, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd in Toledo. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Monday, January 9th, at St Charles Church, 1842 Airport Highway, in Toledo. A visiting period at 11:00 will be held at the church, followed by the Mass. Rose will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery.
