Ronnie Belanga Sr. passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife of 53 years, his sister-in-law, three daughters, son, and granddaughter, Kayla. Ron entered into the care of God with the confidence of one day being reunited with his family and friends.
Ron was born on September 17, 1946, in Kent City, Michigan and was adopted at birth by Theron and Audrey Belanga. His formative years were filled with moving around and working odd jobs. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Navy and served as a mechanic on the USS Wilhoite and the USS Chandler. Returning stateside in 1966, he lived and worked in Kalamazoo, Michigan, until he met Norma “Candy” Pohl. Ron and Candy then moved to Toledo, where they were married on August 1, 1970 at Augsburg Lutheran Church.
Ron began working at General Mills as a line operator and retired as a maintenance supervisor after 37 years. After retirement, Ron and Candy traveled the country in their Sun Voyager Class A Motorhome. Spending a lot of time in the southeastern part of the country. When they finally parked the motorhome, they adopted two cats, Spooky and Missy, that brought much joy to their lives.
Ron was a devoted husband, brother-in-law, father, grandfather, great-grandfather. In his final conversation with his family, he was asked what he was most proud of to which he replied that he was proud of his children. He loved them all for who they are and would do anything for them.
Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Candy; his sister-in-law, Dawn Brandel; his daughters, Stephanie Zientek, Tamara Belanga, and Carolyn (Dan) Wells; son, Chip (Katie) Belanga; fifteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the caring team of doctors and nurses at Toledo Hospital and Northwestern Hospice. Ron requested before passing to send a special thank you to Dr. Fedhil A Hussein for his care and support over the last 20 plus years.
The family will receive guests on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 1690 Sterns Rd., Temperance, MI 48144 with Memorial Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the church. Officiating will be his son, Pastor Chip Belanga.
At the request of the family, if a memorial would like to be given it can be sent to First English Lutheran Church, 2727 E. Main, Richmond, Indiana 47374. Ron and Candy considered FELC as their church and watched it every Sunday on Facebook. The memorials will be used towards improving the quality of steaming of the services.
