Ronald J. Smith, Sr.

Ronald J. Smith, Sr. age 67, of Maumee, Ohio passed away May 7, 2017 at University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1950 in Evansville, Indiana to Joseph and Rita (DeJean) Smith. Ron was employed with the Grogan Chrysler Dodge Jeep for more than 35 years, retiring in 2014. He was a proud crossing guard for Maumee Public Schools. Ron was Commodore and member of the Riverview Yacht Club.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Lynn Smith; mother, Rita Smith; children, Jennifer (Terry Hess) Smith, Ronald (Julie) Barnes, Angela (Dan) Gillingham, Jessica (Jarrid) Wyse, Chris (Daniel) Prekup, Ron Smith, Jr. and Eric Smith; grandchildren, Justin Gillingham, Deanna Gillingham, Madelynn Gillingham, Keith Gillingham, Aaron Barnes, Zachary Barnes, Tyrone Hess, Sydney Hess and Daniella Prekup; great-granddaughter, Rosalie Laugerman; and siblings, Ken (Carol) Smith, Gerry (Linda) Smith, Bob (Cindy) Smith, Kathy (Gus) Spranaitis, Tom (Terri) Smith and Steve (Missy) Smith. In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Ann Gannam.

The family will receive guests Friday, May 12, 2017 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 6:00 pm followed by the Yacht Club Service at 6:30 pm at the funeral home.
