Ronald Keith Nowak, age 60, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 2, 2021 at his home. He was born August 20, 1960 in Toledo, Ohio to Ronald and Barbara (Babcock) Nowak. Ron attended MaComber High School, graduating from Whiteford Agricultural School in 1978. During high school he was a successful athlete receiving many accolades for his abilities and for taking his teammates to numerous wins.
In his teens, Ron became interested in music and joined a band playing the guitar. He continued developing his talents as a musician and became an original member and the lead guitarist with the Lucas Band, playing at local taverns, bars, numerous parties and fun celebrations for many years. Ron was known in the music world as "Chet Magnum".
Ron enjoyed living on the Maumee River so fishing was something he did often. He also liked working in his vegetable garden and cooking. Ron was known for his wild game dinners and his spicy salsa, made from his homegrown vegetables.
He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that caused others to laugh with delight. The twinkle in his eye and inviting smile on his face lit up a room when he walked in. Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was a laborer and union member working with several companies throughout his career. Most recently Ron was a Machine Operator with Maumee Assembly Plant, retiring in 2019 after experiencing some health issues.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Barbara Nowak. Ron is survived by his sister, Lori A. Christian, brothers, Dan and Tony Nowak; son, Ronnie K. Young; girlfriend, Barb Wilson and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel (419-381-1900) where a Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 pm.
