Ronald Melvin Mominee

September 7, 1947 — August 8, 2021

Ronald Melvin Mominee, 73, of Lambertville, passed away August 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ronald was born September 7, 1947 in Toledo to Virginia (Roszczipka) Hartman and Melvin Mominee.

Ron grew up in Point Place. His great-grandmother was the first settler to live there, which was well documented in the Toledo Blade. He was a 1966 graduate of Macomber Vocation High, where he was recognized city wide for his own architectural design, and then briefly attended the University of Toledo. Ron worked at Black and Veatch for 17 years retiring in 2013. He married his best friend, Rebecca (Coy) DeStazio, on May 29, 1982 at a small backyard ceremony with close friends and family. Ron was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony and ASHRAE Engineers.

He was a talented man who was good at anything he did including, singing, dancing, playing football, baseball, track, and water skiing. His dream was to be a rock star, but as it would go, life got in the way. In his free-time, he enjoyed traveling (especially to Key West), genealogy, Si-Fi movies, attending sitcom tapings while on vacation in California, and going to concerts and car races. Ron was a sports car enthusiast and owned three Corvettes that he loved to drive around and jam on the radio. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Ron always made sure others were taken care of, even feeding the homeless while on vacation. During the Vietnam era, he lost his best friend in the war, and Ron made sure his gravesite was always recognized with a flag during the holidays.

Most of all Ron treasured the time and memories he made with his kids. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him and will be remembered as a humorous, fun-loving prankster. His family will honor him by keeping his memory alive by sharing the fun times, laughs, and memories.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 39 years, Rebecca Mominee; sons, Todd Mominee, Robert (Kelly) DeStazio; daughter, Brandi (Ben) Woody; granddaughter, Clarissa DeStazio; great-granddaughter, Kalley; brother, Fred Mominee; and beloved dogs, Abby and Zoe.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rhonda Mominee; and sister, Sharon Wagner.

The family will receive guests Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Funeral Mass will begin Monday at 12:00 pm. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Temperance, MI. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Hospice in Ron's memory.
