Ronald Joseph Miller

May 15, 1936 — December 11, 2022

Ronald "Ron" Joseph Miller, age 86, passed away on December 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 15, 1936 in Toledo, OH to John and Velma Miller.

Ron graduated from Libbey High School in 1953. Ron proudly served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1957 and then went on to be a pipe fitter at the Toledo General Motors (GM) Transmission Plant where he retired after 31 years. While working at GM, Ron became a part of the Arlington Bengals Youth Football Association where he later became the Commissioner of the S.T.A.R.S league. He spent over 30 years coaching and being an aid in youth development. He even had the pleasure of coaching his own children and grandchildren. Ron was also so loved within the Bengals community, an "Eye of the Tiger" award was created in his honor in which was later awarded to him and became his known nickname. Ron was an avid sports fanatic. He absolutely loved the Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes and whoever was playing Michigan. He also enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to watch sprint car races. But most of all he loved being surrounded by his family.

Ron was the rock, the patriarch of the entire family. He was the one you could lean on, no matter the situation, and be the one to help you find the positive. He was known for always telling you what you needed to hear versus what you wanted to hear. He was the light in every room. He was the listening ear, no matter who it was. If you asked Ron, his greatest accomplishment wasn't his football legacy, his service within the Military or his career. It was being a father. There wasn't anything he loved more than his family, they were all his pride and joy. Even in his final moments, he never stopped making sure everyone else was happy and taken care of.

"A heart of gold stopped beating, working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best. Leaves and flowers may wither, the golden sun may set. But the hearts that loved you dearly, are the ones that won't forget."

Ron is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rosemary, of 54 years; his children, Marjorie Miller, Pamela (Kenneth) Speelman, Sue Frasier, Joyce Harris, John Miller, Donald Miller, John Rice; over 100 grandchildren; and his brother, Dan. Preceded in death by his parents; his son, Danny; siblings, Don, Jim, Howard, John, Alice, and his beloved Rottweiler Taurus.

This is not goodbye, but instead, I will see you later!
