Ronald M. "Doc" Kendrick died December 20, 2023 at the age of 97. He was born in Berwyn, IL and after high school served his country in WWII as a member of the Army's 3rd Armored Division. With the aid of the GI Bill he received his undergraduate training at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Doc was a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He interned at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH and served his residency in Kansas City, MO. He practiced for a short time in Aurora, IL and Lancaster, PA before settling in Toledo, OH. He enjoyed his association with the Eye Institute of Northwest Ohio for many years before retiring.
Doc's hobby was woodworking. He made various things which were donated to charitable organizations to be used as raffle prizes. In addition to professional organizations, he was a member of the Teutonia Maennerchor, Toledo Schwaben Verein and the Greater Beneficial Union. He volunteered for many years at the German American Festival at Oak Shade Grove.
Besides his parents, Doc is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Thea. The couple had no children.
There will be no visitation or services.
Doc will be laid to rest privately in Illinois.
