It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Carl Brasher, a lifelong resident of Toledo, Ohio, on February 20, 2025, at the age of 69. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brave battle with cancer.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Ron was a dedicated and beloved member of his community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and John Brasher. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jo Brasher, the love of his life for 44 years; his children, David (Rachel) Brasher, Kevin (Kathryn) Brasher, and Jennifer (Kyle) Gable; his cherished grandchildren, Jade, Jenna, Alyssa, John, Corey, Hudson, Quinn, Bodie, Elijah, and Weston; and his great grandchild, Miguel. He is also survived by many special friends and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Ron had a long and rewarding career with the United States Postal Service, where he earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him. He was a passionate advocate for his colleagues, serving as a union delegate and becoming a favorite amongst those along his delivery route. His kindness, dedication, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on many.
Ron was also proud to serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of honor, strength, and integrity—qualities he carried with him in all aspects of his life.
Above all, Ron was a devoted family man. He loved attending sporting events, rooting for his favorite baseball teams—the Toledo Mudhens, Cincinnati Reds, and Detroit Tigers. His greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones, particularly his grandchildren. Some of his happiest memories were made in Traverse City, Michigan, and Put-in-Bay, Ohio. He also had a knack for finding “hot deals” and was known for his love of bargains, often surprising family and friends with something special.
A celebration of Ron’s life will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio 43614, with visitation on Wednesday, February 26th from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 27th at 11:00 am at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, Ohio 43614. While flowers are welcome, the family kindly requests that those who wish to honor Ron’s memory also consider making a donation to The American Cancer Society in lieu of, or in addition to, sending flowers.
Ron will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
