Ronald L. "Ron" Adlington, age 71, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo with his family by his side. He was born December 23, 1939 to Clarence "Buck" and Juanita (Sheets) Adlington in Toledo, Ohio. He was a graduate of Whitmer High School and following high school he went to work for Chrysler Jeep. Ron started at Jeep as a welder then went on to become a supervisor in the Press Shop, later retiring after 36 years. He married Wanda G. (Courtney) Adlington in 1961 at Antioch Baptist Church in Toledo and they spent 49 wonderful years together. Ron was a volunteer fireman at Springfield Township Firehouse #2; he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with family and friends. Ron especially enjoyed spending summers at Walden Woods Campground and also in Florida. In 2003 he and Wanda became devoted "snow birds," spending retirement in Newport Richey, Florida.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Wanda; daughter, Donna (Gary) Orner; son, David (Sharon) Adlington; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Sharon), George (Joyce) and Robert Adlington; sisters, Janet Lawson, Karen Wertz, Sandy (Steve) Tornai and Barbara (Dave) Notestine; step-brother, Greg Riebe; step-sisters, Melanie and Natalie Riebe. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved canine companion, CoCo.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
