Roland R. Erno, age 84, was peacefully called to heaven after a long illness where he resided at Parkcliffe Community on September 26, 2012. Rollie was born on September 21, 1928 to Roland R Erno, Sr. and Marcella Erno in Kansas City KA. He attended Blessed Sacrament School and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1946. He entered the Armed Services where he served for 18 months and received an honorable discharge which then allowed him to earn a college degree on the GI bill at Xavier University in 1951 where he played football. Rollie developed a successful business as a Beltone Hearing Aid franchise owner in Saline and Milan MI. His keen sense of humor and sharp wit allowed him to make friends and often be the life of any party. Teaching himself oil painting and enjoying classical music were his favorite avocations. His friendship with John J. Delp grew to be as close as brothers.
He was married to Beverly Jacob and is survived by his daughter, Deborah Erno. He had a sister, Mary Jane Simon.
The family would like to express gratitude to the Parkcliffe Community staff, especially Vicki Gottfried, for the kind and compassionate care over the past 7 years and to the competent and caring staff, namely Charlene Sutton, at Promedica Hospice.
The family requests that donations be made in his memory to Central Catholic High School, 2250 Cherry Street, Toledo, OH 43608.
A memorial service and funeral Mass is being planned. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-381-1900) assisted the family with professional services. The family can be contacted for further information.
