Roland E. "Rollie" Rittner, age 85, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Ebeid Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 6, 1928 to Chalmers and Alice (Edmiston) Rittner in Toledo. Rollie was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving his country proudly in WWII. He was employed as a Manager for Willis Day Material Handling for 25 years before retiring. Rollie was an active longtime member of the American Legion Conn-Weissenberger Post #587, Marine Corps League Lou Diamond Detachment 272 and the China Marine Association. He loved fishing, woodworking and gardening. Rollie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rittner; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers. Rollie is survived by his loving children, Jill (Patrick) Burdick, Jeff Rittner, Kim (Omar) Tiba, Natalie Manely, Rebecca Rittner and Robin Rittner; grandchildren, Nathan and Anna, Chris and Sami Tiba and Adam Manely; brother, Arthur (Magdalene) Wilmoth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
