Roland "Rollie" Daschner, Jr.
Roland L. Daschner, age 80 of Toledo died Thursday, January 9, 2003 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in the Palliative Care Unit. He was born on August 2, 1922 to Roland and Charlotte (Jetter) Daschner in Toledo. After graduating from Scott High School Rollie served in the US Army during WWII, stationed in the Philippines. He then attended and graduated from the University of Toledo, College of Business in 1949 and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Rollie married his wife Ruth A. (Matzinger) Daschner on September 11, 1954. He was a salesman employed with Nabisco for more than 35 years retiring in 1984. Rollie was a longtime member of Park Congrgational Church and enjoyed working in his yard, cleaning cars and spending time with family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Ruth A. Daschner and daughter; Laurie (Daschner) Warner. Rollie is survived by his daughter; Barbara (Craig) Bailey, son; John (Kathy) Daschner, son-in-law; Matthew Warner, grandchildren; Brian and Lauren Bailey and Leslie and Lindsay Daschner.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-5:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Wayne Brass. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
