Roger S. Wright, 83, of Toledo, passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at home surrounded by his adoring daughters. He was born March 3, 1928 to Franklin and Vanessa (Smith) Wright. Roger married Marilyn J. (Prestin) Wright May 8, 1954 in Toledo and together they adopted four daughters. He worked at AMC/Jeep as an illustrator/drafter, retiring in 1986. Roger loved traveling and square dancing with his loving wife. In his retirement, he was a security guard at the Toledo Museum of Art. Roger enjoyed painting, collecting classic model cars and clocks, and building model airplanes and trains. Roger was a long-time member of Reformation Lutheran Church.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his four daughters, Shelly Fletcher of Toledo, Julie Balbach of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Wendy (Mike) Corcoran of Toledo, Brenda Wright of Huntington Beach, California; grandchildren Kristen and Ryan Horner and Nicole and Derek Fletcher, as well as great grandchildren Aaliyah and Kamaria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his parents and son-in-law Gene Balbach.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Oncology nurses at Flower Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
The family will receive guests on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery, Sylvania, Ohio from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. Funeral Services will begin at 11:30 a.m.
