Rodney E. Fadden, Jr., age 76, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 after a brief illness. One of five children, Rodney was born June 27, 1932 to Rodney E. and Helen (Quinn) Fadden in Toledo. He attended DeVilbiss High School before joining the U.S. Navy and serving in the Korean War. Rodney was a member of the Collingwood Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, during which he served as Past Master of the Lodge. He also belonged to Zenobia Shrine Lancer Unit, the Legion of Honor, VFW #5536 and the Old Newsboys. Rodney collected and delivered stuffed animals to the children in the Shrine Hospital Burn Unit for several years. He was extremely proud of the Masonic Lodge to which he belonged. Rodney was employed with Toledo Plate Window & Glass for many years, retiring in 1989.
He is survived by his sister, Gladys (Jennings); children, Linda; John; Julie and Jennifer and his dear friend, Diana. He was a proud grandparent of 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Rodney was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Elaine (Helms) Fadden; son, Jim and 3 sisters.
The family will receive guests Saturday from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Memorial Contributions in Rod's name may be made to Collingwood Lodge or to the Shrine Hospital Burn Unit.
