Roberta "Bobbie" D. Toensing, RN, age 63, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away Friday, August 7th, 2009 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 14th, 1946 to William and Margaret (Sloop) Glendenning in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Roberta was a barber employed with Hank's Barber Shop until graduating from Owens Community College earning her degree in Nursing and went on to work at MCO for several years. Roberta was known to her family as having a love for photography, capturing many special family memories. She also enjoyed gardening. Most importantly, Roberta was a loving and devoted grandmother cherishing time spent with her grandchildren. Despite her disabilities, Roberta would spend many hours traveling around the city attending her grandchildren's sporting events, just to see them compete. She will be remembered by her grandchildren as their biggest fan.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving daughters, Kelley (Cyril "Andrew") Joseph and her children, Matthew; Andrew; Tyler and Jake, all of Sylvania and, Kimberley (Harry) Walters and her children Kaitlin and Benjamin all of Northwood and; sister, Billie Glendenning of Toledo, brother, Tom (Carol) Glendenning and many extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) and Friday from 11-11:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2272 Collingwood Ave. Funeral Services will begin Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
