Robert K. "Bob" Zacharias, age 70, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Mercy St. Anne Hospital. He was born on February 4, 1950 to Carl and Evelyn Zacharias in Toledo. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army during Vietnam War. He was employed with UPS for almost 20 years before retiring. Bob was in the National Guard as a heavy machine operator. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion. Bob was a diehard fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and riding his Harley. Bob loved eagles and was an avid collector of them. He looked forward to time spent with his family, especially his two granddaughters; they were the light of his life. Bob also had a close relationship with his nephew, Bubby. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joanne (Grycza) Zacharias; beloved daughter, Lisa (Gregory Kierczak) Zacharias; granddaughter, Audrey and Brianne; sisters, Emajean (Jack) Bartram and Mary Helen (Robert Sr.) Young; and many other extended family and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Zacharias
The family will receive guests on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will be Monday, September 14, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the XXIII, 24250 N. Dixie Hwy., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. (Masks are required with social distancing).
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider St. John the XXIII or the American Cancer Society.
