Robert W. Dudley, age 64, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away suddenly while cooking dinner for his grandchildren, one of his favorite things to do, Sunday, January 17th, 2010. He was born May 23rd, 1945 to Richard and Irene (Wilczynski) Dudley in Toledo. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving his country proudly as a Private First Class from 1965-67, while stationed in San Diego, California. He was a lineman with Toledo Edison for 26 years retiring in 1995. Bob's love of the water and boating took him to Hillsdale, Michigan, where he enjoyed the outdoors, bon fires and fireworks with family and friends. He was also a talented cook and loved preparing dishes of all kinds while entertaining his family and friends. He was employed with Toledo Edison for 26 years before he retired. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the times spent with his family and his constant canine companions, Chester and currently C.J.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Groves) Dudley and siblings, Roberta Chrzanowski and Tom Dudley. He is survived by his wife, Linda Weller; daughter, Sheila (Dudley) Ortman and son-in-law, Stephen Ortman; son, Richard Dudley; grandchildren, Lacee; Chase; Chandler and Makenzie Ortman; Caitlyn; Hunter and Autumn Dudley and siblings, Judy Dudley; Richard (Nancy) Dudley and Donald (Darla) Dudley.
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
