Robert Grant Stautzenbach, 86, passed away on September 22nd, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 20th, 1925 to the late William C. and Florence (Grant) Stautzenbach.
Bob graduated from Libbey High School and was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church. He was a Korean War veteran and was proud to serve his country in the Army. Bob married the love of his life, Arletta "Jean" Ness on September 12th, 1953. He worked hard his whole life and held several jobs. After his retirement, one of Bob's favorite jobs was parking cars at the Mud Hen's baseball games where he enjoyed meeting and talking to people. He was caretaker at Michaelmas Manor for 15 years, stepping down in October of 2010 due to health issues. Bob loved to be outdoors and puttering in the garden. He loved baseball and even played minor league for Oklahoma. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Toledo Mud Hens, Detroit Tigers, U of M and any team his grandchildren played on. Bob loved to travel when he could and his favorite trips were to California with his wife, Jean. He will be remembered for his willingness to help his family and his ability to make friends wherever he went.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jean, who passed away on July 17th, 2011 and also by his brother, William. He was a loving father to Gay (Richard) Kranz, Bill (Jackie) Stautzenbach, Beth (Ed) Fleig, Mary Stautzenbach, Lori (Rick) Sherrer and Julie Stautzenbach. Proud grandfather to Brett and Nicole Kranz, Ian and Ryan Stautzenbach Matt, Chris and Tyler Fleig and Ricky and Robby Sherrer. Also surviving are sister-in-law Jackie Jewell and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Vinciguerra officiating. Interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
