Robert E. Sawyer

Robert E. "Bob" Sawyer, age 84, of Holland, OH passed away May 12, 2022 at Ebeid Hospice Residence. He was born October 15, 1937 in Toledo to Robert and Elizabeth (Hasselkus) Sawyer. After graduating from Waite High School, Bob served one year in the ROTC program at the University of Toledo. Bob started his work career driving a bread truck, then went onto work for Superior Floors of Toledo. Bob moved onto the insurance business, working for over 50 years, retiring with Proctor and Associates in 2020.

Bob was an avid golfer throughout his life particularly with his golfing "cronies," Charlie, Bill and Fred. He loved to golf with his friends and son, Mike in the Frostbite golf league for over 15 years.

Bob found his true calling as a caregiver, for his wife, Sharon who suffered a devastating injury in 2000. He has finally been reunited into the waiting arms of his wife, Sharon, who passed away in 2016.

In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon Sawyer whom he married December 30, 1957. He is survived by his children, Michael (Susan) Sawyer, Kathy Downing and Laura (John) Taylor; grandchildren, Amanda (Shaun) Ziehr, Steven (Jamie) Sawyer, Chelsea Downing, Julia Taylor and Emerson Taylor; great-grandchildren, Easton Ziehr, Isla Ziehr, Mason Sawyer and Molly Rae Sawyer; brother, Charles (Beverly) Sawyer.

Visitation and Services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ebeid ProMedica Hospice in Bob's memory.
