Robert "Bob" Rhodes, age 68 of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2012. He was born to Eddie Coats and Pearline Rhodes on March 17, 1943 in Forkland, Alabama. He graduated from Greene County Training School in Boligee, Alabama. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and worked at Doehler-Jarvis, retiring after 38 years of service. Family was important to Bob and he was dedicated to taking care of his family and putting their needs before his own. Bob confessed to Christ at an early age and was a member of Birdine A.M.E. Zion Methodist Church and served as a Deacon at Greater St. Mary's Baptist Church, Rhema Word Christian Fellowship and Walk the Word Faith Ministries.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sabrina Fitzpatrick and Donnell (Leona) Rhodes; grandchildren, David Fitzpatrick, Dashawn Fitzpatick and Jericka Fondren; great-grandson, Dakown Fitzpatick; siblings, Tom (Ethel) Rhodes, Bettie Rhodes, Susie Kindale, Clarissa Lawson and Henrietta Rhodes. In addition to his parents; Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Joyce M. Rhodes; siblings, Hattie Franklin, Eugene Rhodes, Alfred Rhodes, Edward Rhodes and Sarah Rhodes.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 701 Vance St. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the church with Pastor Timothy Pettaway officiating. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
