Bob passed away at the age of 93 in the presence of his family at Sunset Village Retirement Community in Sylvania, OH on Saturday, April 25th. He suffered from Lewy Body Dementia.
Bob was born in Eldorado, Illinois on July 7, 1921. He served in the Marines during World War II stationed in Hawaii, where he met fellow Marine and wife-to-be Pauline Boisvert. Bob and Paula were married on October 19, 1946. Bob retired in 1983 from Ford Motor Company in Flat Rock, MI where he worked as a Manufacturing Process Engineer.
An avid woodworker and skilled handyman, Bob loved nothing better than to create and repair furniture, fix pretty much anything that was broken (especially if it required him to create a jig!), and help his family and friends with projects of virtually any kind.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Pauline, sons Kevin and Joseph Pilkinton, and brother Harry Pilkinton. Surviving are his loving companion of 8 years, Rhea Queen of Grand Rapids, MI, sister Helen Folding, brother Donald (Rosemary) Pilkinton, children Janis (Maureen) Pilkinton-McGowan, Karen Fletcher, Robert (Carol) Pilkinton Jr., James (Connie) Pilkinton, Judith (David) Barrett, Keith (Patrick) Pilkinton-Dennis, and Jennifer (John) Buechele, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held with Bob's extended family in May.
The family asks that Donations be made in Bob's memory to Hospice of Northwest Ohio (http://www.hospicenwo.org/) or the Lewy Body Dementia Association (http://www.lbda.org/).
