Robert Lee Mitchell, age 84, of Toledo, passed away February 1, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born September 2, 1937 in Toledo to Floyd and Mildred (Dulger) Mitchell. He was employed with Lucas County Children Services for more than 35 years and then went on to work for Meijer for 15 years, and also worked part time at CISP. Bob was a member of Cornerstone Church and enjoyed golfing, fishing and OSU Football. In most recent years, he frequented Bob Evans Restaurant in Holland, OH where he developed a lasting friendship with the employees and customers. Bob volunteered at the voting polls and the Jamie Farr PGA Classic in Toledo. Bob's legacy will continue on as he has had a lasting impact on what it truly means to live, serve and give. There are some who bring a light so great to the world even when they are gone, the light remains.
In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, Diana (Meadows) Mitchell; and sister, Zelma "Pepper" Betts. He is survived by his children, Shelly (Ray) Jackson, Rob (Shelly) Mitchell, Dean (Dawn) Watson, Leslie (Ben) Chio and Jauncey (Edward) Alvarado; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
The family will receive guests, Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road Toledo (419-392-9500). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.
A special and admirable mention of Bob's great grandson, Jeremiah Joshua Chio, Jr., whose commitment to his grandfather's care, and comfort exemplified who Bob truly was.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Hospitals in Bob's memory.
