Robert L. Miller
Robert L. Miller, age 77 of Toledo passed away Sunday at his home. He was the firstborn son of Samuel Madison and Lucinda Irene (Galyon) Miller on November 21, 1925 in Green Co., Tennessee. Robert Link married Ersa Mae Rasar on June 11, 1943. Robert was a US Army Veteran who served his country during WWII (February 27,1945-November 26, 1946) as a Staff Sergeant. He was the recipient of 4 medals during his service. Robert lived with his daughter and her family for several years after his health began to decline in the mid-90's. Robert was employed with Bettinger's Farms as a Manager over three of the Toledo Greenhouses. There he was known as "Bob". He worked with Bettinger's for over 30 years retiring in 1991. Growing up on a farm in Tennessee is where he first grew to love farming. In 1970 Robert was ordained a Deacon at Faith Baptist Church, until recently Robert served as Chairman with the church. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. To them he was known as Grandpa or Papa.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years; Ersa Mae (Rasar), brothers; Martin and Billy Joe Miller . He is survived by his children; James Robert Miller, Sammy Joe Miller and Lou Ann (Gary) Wilmoth all of Toledo, grandsons; Garret Justin and Ryan Matthew Wilmoth both of Toledo, sisters; Mildred Thompson and Dealia (James L.) Thompson both of Lenoir City, TN., Audrey Underdown of Toledo and Johnny (Jack) Johnson of Holland, OH., brother; Charles Edmund (Mary Ruth) Miller of Holland, OH., 18 nieces, 16 nephews and countless friends. He will also by missed by his faithful friend "Lady".
The family will receive guests Wednesday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) and Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a "Celebration Homecoming" Service Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 6245 Whiteford-Center Rd. Lambertville, MI. Officiating will be Pastor Wesley Blood and Pastor Brad Wotring. Robert's earthly body will be placed with his wife in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank everyone that helped to keep Robert comfortable during his final days. Memorial Contributions may be given in Robert's memory to Faith Baptist Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
