Robert L. McDougall, age 72, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2008 in his home. He was born February 1, 1936 to William and Ida (Lamb) McDougall in Deshler, Ohio. Robert was a U.S. Air Force Veteran for 20 years proudly serving in Vietnam. He was often referred to by his superior officers as "the best crew chief" who served. Bob received the bronze star during his service. He was a life member of the DVA and VFW. Bob retired from the military in 1973, but continued his working career at Jobst Institute, Inc for 20 years, retiring as Plant Manager in 1994. Even during his retirement Bob continued as a consultant with Jobst in North Carolina for several more years. He was an avid hockey fan following the Hornets, GoalDiggers and the Toledo Storm. Bob was also a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Detroit Red Wings.
In addition to his parents Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Naomi; Wilda; Helen; Phyllis and Roberta and brother, Arthur "Bud". He is survived by his loving wife with whom he would have celebrated 47 years of marriage in March, Gayl (Freeman) McDougall; children, Kellie Yates; Shanan (Mark) Beck; Patrick (Jaime) McDougall and Michael (Michelle) McDougall; grandchildren, Amy (Joe) Zacharias; Ryan; Matthew; Kristina; Maranda; Morgan; Mikel; McKenna; Cameron and Nathaniel; great grandchildren, Ashlynn; Joseph; Karissa; Zachary and Joshua; sister, Kathleen Jensen.
Friends are invited to join the family Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for a Memorial Service at Rossford United Methodist Church, 270 Dixie Hwy. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Ball.
The McDougall family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the loving care and support they provided for Bob during his illness. They are truly angels here on earth.
