Robert M. Rector

Robert M. Rector, age 65, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, November 5th, 2013 surrounded by his family at home. Robert was born September 28th, 1948 in Toledo to James and Catherine (Farren) Rector. He graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School where he was awarded the Bishops Cross. Robert went on to attend the University of Toledo, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Business. He spent more than 50 years in the Grocery Industry, most notably as the Director of Center Supermarkets and Meijer. During his career Robert was a mentor to many. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the University of Toledo Alumni Association. Robert was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions. He was a loving husband and father and enjoyed attending all of his children's sporting events. Robert had a talent for golf and relished playing with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Timothy L. and Charles R. Rector. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 31years, April (Glenn) Rector; children, Travis (Elizabeth), Ross, and Farren Rector, all of Toledo; brother, James P. Rector and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 2:00-8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Celebration at 10:15 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd. Officiating will be Fr. Adam Hertzfeld. Interment will follow.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Chapter of Northern Ohio or to St. Joan of Arc School Sports Program.
