Robert Layne

Robert David Layne, age 76, of Toledo, passed away January 30, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Robert was born July 7, 1938 in Ironton, OH to Fowler and Vera (Gustin) Layne. He was employed with the CSX Rail road as a Conductor for more than 45 years. Robert spent many wonderful summers in Stokes Bay, Canada where he was a bingo caller at the community center. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, spending time with his children and grandchildren and dancing with his wife and grandchildren in the kitchen. Robert was a very kind and generous individual who made time for everyone and he will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his brother Charles "Bud" Layne. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Joyce Mae, daughters, Jerri (Doug) Strauss and Jodi (Tracy) Myrice, sons Ryan (Dee), Brian (Darcy), Mark, Tim (Merri-Jo) and Jason (Rae), 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, sister in law Genevieve "Peanut", Starr "mans best friend", his Canadian sons Tom and John Forbes, and the rest of his Canadian family.

The family will receive guests Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 6:00 pm. in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital-Cancer Fund in Robert's memory.
