Robert L. Wright, Sr.

Robert L. Wright, Sr., age 71, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at his home. He was born August 8th, 1939 in Jefferson, Alabama to Walter and Rosie Jane (Simmons) Wright, Sr. Before moving to Toledo, Robert was employed with Rosenbush Furniture Company and Riley Tar and Chemical in Alabama. After moving to Toledo, Robert worked for Maumee Mallable Company and then Ransom & Randolph Dental Supply for 16 years, retiring in 1988.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Rosetta; brother, William A. Whitfield and son, Christopher Alan Wright.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, Lula Mae (Johnson) Wright; sons, Archie (Barbara) Merriweather and Robert L. (Glenda) Wright, Jr.; daughters, Belinda Slaughter, Miriam (Charles) Mathews and Vanessa Wright; brothers Walter (Anna Lois) Wright and Harrison (Linda) Hutcheson; sister, Julia White; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and special nieces, Melvine (David) Johnson and Francine (Kelvin) Brown.

Robert will also be missed by a host of extended family members and dear friends.

The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Wake Services will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be pastor Francine Brown. Interment will follow at Forest Cemetery.
