Robert James Carter, 58 of Toledo passed away Saturday, April 16th, 2005 in his home. He was born June 2, 1946 in Selma, Alabama. Robert was employed with Aramark for 10 years. He was a hard working man who was dedicated to his family and his job. Robert enjoyed listening to and singing Blues and Motown Hits from the '60's and '70's. He was also a big fan of the LA Dodgers. Most importantly, Robert cherished the time he spent with family and friends, especially his grandson Trenton James. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Patricia Ann (Whitlock) Carter; son, Lamar Whitlock Carter; daughter, Alesha Whitlock Carter; grandson, Trenton James Foster; mother, Mary Crosby; brothers, Willie J. (Lanora) Carter; Eugene (Nicey) Hardy; Paul Crosby; Arthur J. Crosby and Cleveland (Lisa) Crosby II; sisters, Sadie (Jeffrey) Wench; Shirley (Marvin) Grant; Lillian C. Hardy; Debra Lobdal; Dorothy (Lavore) Rodgers and Mary Ann (Terrance) Reid; father-in-law, Artis Whitlock and a host of family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew and Steve; stepfather, Cleveland Crosby; mother-in-law, Carrie Whitlock; brother-in-law, Lamont Whitlock and niece, Ladonna Crosby.
The family will receive guests Friday from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home , 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
