Robert A. Huebner, age 67, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 in St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 8, 1945 in Toledo to Harold and Marie Huebner. Bob attended Macomber High School and entered the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served three tours in Vietnam. On January 13, 1967, Bob joined the Toledo Police Department working uniform patrol and later headed up the accident reconstruction unit. He taught at the Toledo Police Academy as a driving and fire arms instructor. Bob retired from the Toledo Police Department April 1996. Bob loved spending time in Maine and Myrtle Beach. The greatest love of Bob's life was his family especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish Bob's memory is his loving wife of 33 years, Becky; children, Cindy (Mike) Van Rassen, Kirk (Melissa) Huebner and Eric Huebner; grandchildren, Jessica, Alexandria, Jacob, Dasha, Katelyn and Mackenzie; special nephew, Chris Huebner. In addition to his mother, Marie and aunt Waunita, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Huebner.
Of Bob's many friends, the family would like to especially thank Rhonda Donnell, Bill and Rosie Kellar, Dave Mullin, Dennis Richardson, Pam and Dick Pohl, Jerry Myers, Don Clark, John Hack and Bob Brannon.
The family will receive guests Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo with the Fraternal Order of Police Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
