Robert W. Hanus

Robert W. Hanus, age 77, passed away on August 26, 2017. He was born on January 4, 1940 to the late Ruth and Robert Hanus.
Bob grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. He had a love of cars and enjoyed working on and racing them. He was very mechanically inclined and his son, Bobby, inherited those skills. Bob loved sports and was a very skilled pool player, bowler and golfer. Before his career took off, his pool playing often provided supplemental income to take care of his family. Bob became a Sales Manager and Certified Financial Planner with Prudential Insurance Company and was transferred to Toledo in 1971. Bob was extremely dedicated to his clients and was very proud of his multiple performance awards and numerous financial certifications. He recently retired after over 50 years of service.
Bob had a lifelong passion for golf and enjoyed playing with a large group of friends known as the "Dirty Dozen" at both South Toledo Golf Club and Whiteford Valley. Bob enjoyed his annual fall golf vacation to his timeshare in South Carolina with his wife, Cousin Bill Ockington (and wife Audriene) and a large group of other couples. He passed down his love of golf to his son, Brett, and grandchildren, Jack and Macy, who have become top junior players. He enjoyed working as a starter at Stone Ridge Golf Course and was a member of the Maumee Elks 1850 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2562.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Louise; sons, Robert and Brett (Debbie) Hanus; sister, Mary (Ron) Benedek; grandchildren, Chelsea, Evelyn, Jack and Macy; great-granddaughter, Adilynn. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Ruscin.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 4-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
