Robert E. Nelson, Sr.

Robert E. Nelson, Sr., 81, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2013. He was born on September 19, 1931 to the late Kathryn and Clarence Nelson in Toledo, Ohio.
Bob worked as a Sheet Metal Worker Local 33 for many years. He served as a Marine during the Korean War and spent two years aboard the USS Missouri. Bob enjoyed cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and hunting with his nephew.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth and sister, Marguerite. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth; sons, Robert Jr. (Maria) and Rick; sister-in-law, Sue; grandchildren, Raquel (Vincent), Robert III (Addie), Ashley, Corey and great-grandchildren, Myla and Nora.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale, Toledo, OH 43614 or a charity of the donor's choice.
