Robert Dale Smith, age 69, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 13, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on May 5, 1944 to Edgar and Minnie (Gammon) Smith in Toledo. Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country proudly. He was employed with B & B Box Company for 41 years before retiring in 2009. Dale was an avid piano player and singer and used to enjoy riding his motorcycle. He was a CB'er and was known as "The Joker". Dale loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a kid at heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dale is survived by his loving family, sons, Rob (Aundrea) and Dustin (Kayla) Smith; grandchildren, Oliver, Christine, Megan, Amy, Anna and John; siblings, Denny (Candy) Smith, Pat Franklin, Carolyn Buckley and Peggy (Bill) Hunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
The family will receive guests on Monday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
