Robert A. "Hoss" Cartwright, Jr., age 74, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 in the Heartland Holly Glen Care Center. He was born May 2, 1937 in Toledo to Robert and Vanessa (Tompkins) Cartwright, Sr. Bob was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School. He worked at L.O.F. for 30 years, retiring in 1984. Bob met and married Phyllis Brooks in 1965 whom he met at Toledo Tip Toppers, a club for tall people. After Bob retired, he and Phyllis enjoyed traveling all over the U.S.A. by motor home. Bob was an avid reader, he enjoyed automobile books and history.
Left to cherish his memory is wife, Phyllis Ann (Brooks) Cartwright; siblings, Clem Tuttle, Rodney Tuttle, Mahlon Tuttle, Beth Tuttle and Becky Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Mildred Bushman, Muriel Balonek, Marilyn Brooks and Joan (Dorsey) Kinsey; brother-in-law, James Brooks and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara and Jesse Mae and brothers, Bob and David Tuttle.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road (419-473-0300). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ford Cemetery, Berkey, Ohio.
The family would like to specially thank the staff, caretakers and volunteer, Joyce Miller at Heartland for their loving care they provided to Bob; also to his roommate, William Northrip for sharing many years of camaraderie with Bob.
