Robert &Jane Jewell

April 30, 1934 — January 5, 2017

It started with a shy girl from Walbridge and a man from Swanton who both worked at the Bostwick - Braun Company. Before they met, she told her co-worker that one day she would marry that man. And using a Clark bar as a prop, he introduced himself to her. Three dates later they were engaged to be married. A marriage that would produce five children and last 56 years and end when they took their last breaths within 30 minutes of each other.

Jane (Cable) Jewell, grew up on Tracy Road in Walbridge, Ohio, as the youngest of 5 children (George, Bill, and Ann Cable, and June Lallendorf). She graduated from Perrysburg High School, where she never missed a day of high school, and Davis College. She was a secretary for Bostwick-Braun before leaving the work force to raise her family. With her youngest child now in high school, she returned to the work force as a secretary for the Lucas County Family Court and then as a pharmacy technician at Target in Lakeland, Florida.

Bob Jewell grew up in Swanton, Ohio, as the second youngest of six children (Glen Jewell, Violet Kinkaid, Les, Stanley, and John Jewell). He graduated from Swanton High School, never having missed a day of school, a proud achievement for Bob. He served in the United States Coast Guard stationed out of Point Place. Bob worked for the Pilliod Cabinet Company where he lost three fingers but gained a host of stories to tell on why he was missing those fingers. He also worked at the local Swanton hardware store before building his career with the Bostwick-Braun company as a salesman. As Bob left the building at Bostwick-Braun that final time, his co-workers lined the halls to wish him well…a true testimony to the affect Bob had on people.

Nothing was more important to Jane and Bob than their family. It was important to them that their children had as many experiences as possible. And despite tight funds, they did what they could to take their children on a variety of vacations and placed them in different camps, classes, and missions. As a result, this family shares an amazing bond. No doubt there are squabbles, but they are always helping each other out and are there for each other when needed.

Upon retirement, Jane and Bob picked up and moved to Lakeland, Florida, a life-time dream for them. While there, Bob worked for the Tigers spring training camp where Bob met Ernie Harwell. They even hosted Ernie and Lulu Harwell for dinner in their home. In Florida, Bob and Jane enjoyed going to the beaches, Disney and cruises. But as the grandchildren started to come, Bob and Jane became homesick and headed back to Ohio.

Bob and Jane are survived by their children Beth Jewell, Dawn (Alan) Dorfmeyer, Eric (Maribeth) Jewell, Karen Jewell (Kim Hoover), Kirk (Stacey) Jewell. Jane's sister Ann, and Bob's sister Violet, Grandchildren Megan, Jesse, Chloe, Jordan and Jake Jewell and Nicole and Lauren Dorfmeyer and three great grandchildren.

We love you most, but you said it first, and we say it still and forever!
