Robert Stanley Adams, Sr.
June 2, 1925 — August 25, 2022
Robert Stanley Adams, Sr., age 97, of Toledo, will be forever soaring through the heavens as he gained his permanent wings on the eve of Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in South Toledo. Robert was born June 2, 1925 in St. Charles, MO to JC and Mary (Royster) Adams. He proudly served in the US Navy upon the U.S.S. Tarawa (C-40) during WWII and finalizing his time as a Master Sargent in the US Air National Guard. After serving in the military Bob was self-employed for more than 40 years as a general contractor, being a lifelong member of Toledo Carpenters Union.
In addition to his parents, Robert was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Thelma D. Sanderson-Adams. He is survived by his Daughter, Dorothy J. Butler (Richard-deceased) Son, Robert S. Adams, Jr. (Fran) Grandson, David Adams, Granddaughter, Kim Klijewski, Granddaughter, Peggy-Sue Sanchez (Robert) Daughter, Sandra K. Adams-Ahrens, Grandson, Trenton A. Thrun (Amanda), Granddaughter, Bradi J. McKown (Phillip) , Brother, Dr. James Adams (Marylin), Brother, John Adams (Amelia) along with 5 Great-Granddaughters, Elexa & Cloe Sanchez, Courtney, Samantha and Keri Klijewski, 3 Great-Grandsons, Maxwell Thurn, Austin and Zachary Klijewski. Bob also had many Nieces and nephews that he held very dear to his heart.
The family will receive guests Friday, September 2, 2022 from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 am. at the funeral home followed burial at Forest Cemetery, 1704 Mulberry St, Toledo, Ohio with Full Military Honors presented by the US Air Force Color Guard.
The family will continue with Bob's celebration of life starting at 2:00 pm at the VFW Post #3338 - 2231 South Ave Toledo, OH. This is a potluck style gathering, so we ask that you bring your favorite dish to pass.
