Rita M. Miller died on Saturday, July 4, 2015. She was born June 6, 1922 in Toledo to Joe and Ann (Hart) Morgenstern. Growing up, she belonged to St. Ann's Parish, and was a proud alumna of Notre Dame Academy. In 1947 she married Albert J. Miller in Gesu Church.
Rita loved to host family and friends at her home on Raab Rd. in Swanton. Her yard was always manicured to perfection, and Rita was happiest when she could cook a meal, bake, and entertain people in the barroom or around the piano. Trips to Devil's Lake or Ft. Lauderdale were always great times, especially accompanied by Rita's ranger cookies, banana cream, coconut cream, or lemon meringue pies!
Rita was an office manager for many years at several area businesses including Schrader Tire and Oil, and Gardner Signs, where she retired after more than 20 years. She was a long time parishioner at Marygrove Immaculate Conception Church in Swanton. At Marygrove, Rita served as President of the Altar Rosary Society, sang in the choir, and for many years worked the parish fish frys and assisted with funeral dinners. She always said, "Marygrove is such a beautiful, little church."
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry and Bernie Morgenstern; sisters, Helen Grimley and Alice Cain, and her husband, Al Miller. She is survived by sons, David (Joanie) Miller and Mark Miller. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brian, Kevin, Kim and Kristy, 10 great-grandchildren; along with cousin and best friend, Ruth Brown.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Marygrove Immaculate Conception Church, 1748 N. Raab, Swanton, Ohio 43558. Her family will receive guests on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass in the church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Michael G. Dandurand.
Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300).
Rita would have appreciated memorial contributions be made to either Notre Dame Academy or St. Francis de Sales High School.

Mother
To one who bears the sweetest name,
and adds a luster to the same.
Who shared my joys, who cheered when sad-
the greatest friend I ever had.
Long life was hers for there's no other
can take the place of my dear Mother.
