Rita J. Mcginnis

Rita J. McGinnis, age 90, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, April 11, 2016 at Spring Meadows Senior Community. She was born on June 7, 1925 in Akron, Ohio, moving to Toledo in 1976. Rita was a church secretary at Good Shepard Lutheran Church for 10 years and then at Washington Local Schools for 18 years. She was a lifelong artist and lover of all animals.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Fred McGinnis. Rita is survived by her loving children, Steve McGinnis, Cindy Redmond, David (Aengela) McGinnis, Vicki Fitts and Linda McGinnis; son-in-law, Marty Fitts; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and many other family and friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Spring Meadows Senior Community and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of their love, care and support given to Rita and her family.
