Rita Ann Gurtzweiler

Rita Ann Gurtzweiler, age 84, of Perrysburg, OH passed away May 26, 2024 at Mercy Health - Perrysburg Hospital. She was born May 6, 1940 in Dunbridge, OH to Millard and Beatrice (Bayer) Burkhardt. Rita started her work career as a governess working in homes taking care of children. She also worked at Sunshine Children's home for 13 years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Rita loved art and painting and also enjoyed making ceramics.

In addition to her parents, Rita was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Burkhardt. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, George Gurtzweiler; daughter, Melissa Strange and son, Gregory Gurtzweiler.

The family will receive guests Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front Street, Perrysburg OH 43551. Burial will follow at New Belleville Ridge Joint Cemetery.
