Ricky L. Overmyer

Ricky L. Overmyer, age 58, of Toledo, passed away peacefully August 17, 2020 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on December 9, 1961 in Fremont, Ohio. Ricky graduated from Clyde High School in 1980 where he met his soul mate, Ruth Ross. Through the years he was a Deputy Sheriff, firefighter, security guard and then found his calling as a Paramedic. Ricky worked for 23 years as a paramedic most recently at Med Corp. where he retired from. He also volunteered at the Toledo Zoo, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Boy Scouts of America. Ricky loved his country and his family whole heartedly. Some of his passions included music, photography, art, nature, the metro parks and reading. Ricky had a zest for life, which was evident in how he lived. He had a great sense of humor often playing jokes on many. Ricky loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife of almost 38 years, Ruth Overmyer; children, Valerie (Thomas) Powell, Kimberly Preston and Daniel Overmyer; grandchildren, Caleb (Kierstyn), L.J., Josiah, Aleela, Tobias, Collin, Krystina, Isabella, Benjamin and Vanessa; great-grandson, Tillian; sister, Marie (James) Dumbroff; brother, Orville (Pat) Overmyer, Jr.; mother-in-law, Jerlene (August) Wilhelm; nieces, Robin (Steve) Roth and Denise Kovaleski; nephew, William Dumbroff; and many other family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Hazel Overmyer; sisters, Dorothy Whitt and Judy Mulcahy; father-in-law, Arnold Ross.

The family will receive guests on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 3 – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will be Private Tuesday followed by Interment at Ft. Meig's Cemetery. (Masks are required with social distancing).
