Ricky H. Hester

Ricky H. Hester, affectionately known as "Bubba," passed away on March 22, 2025, in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on August 1, 1954, in Cleveland, Ohio, the beloved son of John and Kathleen Hester, who have preceded him in death.

Ricky dedicated his life to hard work and was known for his commitment to his various jobs throughout the years. He contributed his talents to Gowe Printing, Toledo Harbor Warehouse, Simon Property Group, and the Continental Secret Service, where he worked as a security guard. His work ethic exemplified his dedication to his responsibilities and the people he served.

An avid lover of the great outdoors, Ricky was happiest whilst hunting, fishing, camping, and embarking on canoe trips with his cherished wife, Mona, and their son, Christopher. Ricky's zest for life was infectious; he was a joyful presence who loved a good laugh and had a spirited personality that made him fun to be around. His passion extended to coaching youth football and baseball, sharing his love of sports with the younger generation, while also fostering his own enthusiasm for sports as an avid Ohio State fan. In addition, he held a long-standing commitment to a golf league, and enjoyed playing softball in his younger days as a catcher.

Ricky is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Mona Hester, and their son, Christopher Hester. He is also survived by his brother, Vance Hester, and his wife Helen, his sister, Wynel Fite, and brother-in-law, Robert Haight, along with a host of nephews and other extended family members who will cherish his memory.

He is preceded in death by his sisters, Loretta Hall and Kathy Wesson, his mother, Kathleen Hester, father, John Hester, his beloved mother-in-law, Eileen Haight, and father-in-law, Richard Haight.

A visitation in honor of Ricky H. Hester will be held on March 29, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH 43623.

Ricky's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His spirit will be greatly missed, but the memories he created will remain forever.
