Richard E. Williams, age 88, a longtime resident of Sylvania, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 8, 2021. He was born April 4, 1933 in Toledo to Ellis and Elenor (Heer) Williams. Richard graduated from Woodward High School and shortly after joined the US Air Force serving his country proudly. He was employed with Jeep Chrysler in the Press Shop for more than 30 years.
Richard was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed boating and camping at some favorite spots with his family over the years. After retiring from Jeep, Richard and his wife Arlene spent their winters in Ft. Meyers, Florida. Richard was a "do-it-yourselfer" kind of man taking on all kinds of projects around the house. He will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather cherishing time spent with his family.
In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Arlene Williams; daughter, Cynthia Wozny; brothers, Jim, Gary and Tom Williams and sister, Nancy Waterson. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Lori) Williams; siblings, David (Sue), Bob Williams, Judy Frantz and Sue (Gary) Leach; grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Kollar and Stephanie (Casar Ruiz) Wozny; great grandchildren, Ben, Charlotte, Eli and Alexander and favorite canine companion, Tucker and grand dog and cat, Ozzy & Callie.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at Newcomer, Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 am. at the funeral home with burial following at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Attire for both events is come-as-you are casual.
