Richard W. Johnston, Jr.

Richard "Dick" W. Johnston, Jr. age 75, of Toledo, Ohio passed away December 30, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice Residence after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 8, 1938 in Akron, Ohio to Richard and Agnes (Wiggins) Johnston, Sr. Dick was employed with General Motors for more than 35 years, retiring as a Production Superintendent in 1992. He was an avid boater and member of the Bayview Yacht Club and Put-in-Bay Yacht Club.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving sons, Matthew A. (Kelly) Johnston and Joel E. (Joy) Johnston; grandchildren, Claire, Ryan, Kyle, Jeremiah and Josephine Johnston; and brother, Ed (Bev) Johnston. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn Johnston.

The family will receive guests Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo (419-381-1900). The family will also receive guests Friday, January 3, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Sylvania United Methodist Church, 7000 Erie Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
